The Clock's Ticking

In a blink of an eye, we are going to tick of yet another year in a few hours time.

2010 has again been another remarkable year as all the years have been. It's another year which I have experienced my up and downs, left and rights.

Experiences come with learning.

Academic wise, as a BAF student, it was not merely waiting for the wind move a sailing boat but it was more of blowing it ourselves. It was never easy having to deal with everything that was put down on us. And I bet, every university student do feel the same. Like everyone else, we had to keep to the tight deadline of assignments, deal with group members which are also our classmates and not forgetting the ever demanding lecturers, understanding and memorising whatever learned to prepare us for exams and to gain knowledge and most importantly, we had to deal with result day - the worst of them all.

At the end of the day, we had a little something organised by few of our classmates as a stress-reliever and a get-together thing. Our very own Post-Exams / Pre-Christmas / Year-End Party was hell of a fun with Secret Santas, awards, votings, food and just...fun! And not forgetting the Picnic/Fly Kite event too. Looking forward to more of these sort of party / outing that we'll have in the coming 2011! :D

Out of all those "official" academic stuff, I picked up bits and pieces of investment related issues, through the OSK Investment Challenge that I participated back in August - October and from a friend none other than Deric Yee! Still, there's much to do and I'm still finding the determination and rajin-ness to start studying those stuff. New Year's resolution perhaps?

With 'tua-tua' friends
2010 also marks our very first trip together and we were headed to the town of Malacca! (OneTwo & Three) A trip that was initiated at the end of 2007 but we never got to execute it. Looking forward to a second one which was postponed several times this end of the year. lol. It was however, compensated with food outings that we've planned, successfully carried out and at the same time added few additional calories (yes, few). I think this December holiday we had the most outing EVER!

All those outing was not fulfilled with fun only - but to make ourselves feel better - we've learned organisation, people management and money management :P

AJ9a
As a matter of fact, I'm going to meet them today! It'll be one of the best way to end the year with - by enjoying the last few hours of 2010 with these people. Miss the class, miss all of you!

Other than that, 2010 have brought me to another level as a whole, in my perspective. I've been to two bars / club (i don't know) this year. One was Mardi Gras for Digi Internet Pimp My Day (One & Two) and the other was Modesto Sri Hartamas for Astro B.yond Bloggers' Night. Also to St. Patrick's Day and OktoberFest which was both held at One Utama. It's something to be wow-ed about (by me) because alcohol related events are not really my things due to parents' restriction :( and drinks there are so expensive that I would rather buy it off the shelf at Jusco or something. But yes, environment is different and I've  the chance to experience it already. Next stop, clubbing (?) haha..

The only thing that we've got to worry about after visiting the bar / club is: Who will drive us home?

I've also had the opportunity to work part-time as a student helper in university to earn a few extra Riggits. And who knew, that you could earn by reading newspaper right?

Another thing, that I've nearly forgotten to write down is that I've climbed Broga Hill twice this year and twice, it was hell of a climb. If you know what I meant :p

All in all, 2010 is worth being kept as a good and bad memory. It's the year that the first big two come appears in my age and everything that happened after that, it's all fate.
To the new people that I've met, it's been such a pleasure to know all of you, bloggers. You've widen my knowledge in blogging and camera matters.
To all the 'old' people that I've known from primary, secondary school, college and university who are still in close contact with me, lets make history yet again in 2011!
To all my readers (really, only if I have any), Happy New Year to you!
31st December 2010 marks the end of another yet remarkable year. What's in store for us in 2011, we do not know. The thing that we do know is that whether we like it or not, we'll have to welcome it into our life. Let 2010 be a great memory to be bear in mind and look forward to the years to come. Last but not least, lets make it the best closure for 2010 and an amazing start for 2011.

I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year!
May all your old /new resolutions were/are fulfilled.

The Joyous Season of Christmas.

Clock ticks at: 11:42PM Malaysia
Date: 24th December
Another 18 minutes on my clock, and it'll be Christmas will be welcoming itself into our day or better said, we'll all be welcoming it to make it a wonderful day to be always remembered.

Last year's Christmas, I celebrated it present-surprise-less. This year around, I tried to make it a Christmas with Christmas presents to open, that is by not requesting any present beforehand. I've achieved part of it by receiving a surprise Santa Present from Mei Hui, a classmate of mine who was my Secret Santa in BAF's Pre-Christmas / Post-Exams / Year-End party (a post yet to be written).

I received a very pretty necklace from Mei Hui, to which I'll wear it for tomorrow :) Thank you Secret Santa!

And for the second present, it was a result to the failure of my not-to-request-anything-this-year wish because in the end, I requested for a Starbucks tumbler that I've been meaning to get since I've made quite a frequent visit there towards the end of the semester.

:)

Besides all the presents, another thing about Christmas season is the mood that comes with it. The musics, decorations, gatherings, and all in all, the joyous feeling that everyone have in them in this festive season.
*Someone's playing fireworks now!*

Once more, before I go off to bed opening the next present on the list....
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
May it be a joyous Christmas Day as always.
From,
Me and gingerbread man.

i-City where trees are lighted Part 2

a continuation..

Nothing much to narrate about the trip to i-City really because everything was about photography, random chilling with friends and walking around looking at erm...lights.
Brought the DSLR there, so we managed to finally take a somewhat successful jump shot after a failed one in Malacca. Brought the DSLR, but didn't really know how to manage it in dark scenes so I brought along the digital camera as well. Less problems in adjusting the settings :P

Chinese New Year is in a month plus but there are the festive lanterns hanging all over tree-like-poles already.

Seriously, i-City is only for those light lovers or photographers, or else, you'll just be walking romantically with your partner / friends. >.<

Well, not entirely walking because there were circus-like games around where you get to throw rings into bottles to get a chance to win some price or fishing ducks with a stick thing, and if you get ducks with certain number written under them, you get to win something home.
There were also food and toy stores further inside in the open park if you find yourself starving. Food ranges from burgers to keropok lekor (if not mistaken).

There weren't only trees with lights, but also animal decorated with lights like the frog here..

and the ...bangau (?) here..

..and lighted watermelon-cactus and starfruit-cactus.

Then we went into the "snow house" which wasn't exactly snowy, just aircond-ny. It was very comforting to get into somewhere with cold air for a bit because it was pretty hot on the outside.

Again, inside the shoplot built "snow house", there were stuff filled with lights. From Christmas, to Chinese New Year-like decorations to again, Christmas plus Cinderella carriage with horse decorations.

That's the end of our night trip to i-City, and before we were off to Murnis for supper, here's a group photo.
There were some sort of silent conflict with this trip which probably taught us a lesson. Haha..Nevertheless, it was a great trip for me, since we hadn't had one in a long time. :) More to come!

i-City where trees are lighted Part 1

Finally a trip to i-City after much deliberation on where should we go for the holidays. It was raining cats and dogs in the late evening, and I though we might not be able to make it there already. But we still go anyway, waited for the rain and traffic to subside by having dinner first at a newly opened restaurant at Amanpuri.

It was a Chinese-style dinner where we had fish, vegetables, chicken and tofu.

Then we were off to Shah Alam's i-City. It was about 30 minutes drive from where I say. Lucky the heavy traffic earlier had subside when we leave for it through the LDP at around 8 plus.

Entry ticket was RM10 which includes a 5 person entry to the "Snow house". It was pretty crowded in i-City even on a weekday (Wednesday). It's like the whole world was on holiday and their holiday destination was to i-City.
It was the Christmas season, and so the decorations there were mainly lighted Christmas trees which was really pretty.

Almost every trees in i-City was lighted, and if you have the intention to make a visit there, you better have a camera with you because there aren't actually anything to do there unless you're interested in photography or have no better activity to do for the night. It'll be like just random stroll in the park with lighted trees and decorations in the heat if you do not have a camera on hand.

We parked on the other end, so we had to walk a bit to reach the open park where the main attractions were: more trees with colourful lights.

All trees are artificial light-made trees. A pretty sight from a distance actually.

Too many pictures to fit everything into one post, so I'm splitting it into 2 posts. :)

Farewell Dinner @ Tao-Cuisine.

It was a Tao Japanese Cuisine at Sunway Giza for dinner in September as a farewell dinner for Kit Weng. It happened three months ago, which means this is an overdue post and naturally means that I forgot the names for dishes.

Taken a few photos of food only because other times, I was too engrossed in eating that I forgot to snap photos of them. :) Here's a few dishes that we served in Tao...

It's a random dish that I took over at the food counter. Some sushi (eaten already lol), oyster and tofu dish..

 More oysters!

hurm...tempura?

 Fried stuff from the menu

Fish thingy. Don't remember what sort of fish though.

Fried Scallop?

something..? lol

 Tarts with umbrealla

There were only a few selections of ice-cream as compared to Tenji. And I don't think these ice-cream was Haagan Dazs or Baskin' Robbins.

They had other small small deserts like the "kuai leng kou" here but all comes in small portion.

There aren't much choice on the serving counter because Tao emphasise more towards menu based cuisine. It's not much of self-serving thing here at Tao which means you'll have to rely on their waiters and waitresses when you order through their menu, but fret not because when I was there, the one waiter who served us was very helpful and service was quite swift. Portion ordered through menu can be quite small though for some reason.

The buffet at Tao-Cuisine costs about RM55-RM60 at that point of time. Overall, food was quite okay (6/10?) and service was good if the correct waiter (or waitress) attend to you. The down side was there weren't much choice available, and food portion was a bit too little - will have to order a few times to fulfill your stomach (lol).

Melissa Wong's Birthday Dinner at Pacific Regency Hotel

It was Melissa Wong's 21st birthday. Her boyfriend, Fredrick decided to make it a surprise birthday party for her and few of her closer classmates were invited to the party which was held at Pacific Regency Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

It was an unfortunate drive there because my car broke down right in front of the hotel entrance after getting all heated up. The effects of forgetting to close the water cover over at the bonnet :| Thanks to the guys - Deric, Wan Li and Kin Lim for helping out - and the kind hotel taxi drivers who helped me push the car to the side.

After all the car hiatus was done, we went up to the 31st floor where a room was booked, and where the party was held. Joanne and I was the last to arrive because everyone was already there decorating the room with balloons and signing the HUGE birthday card made by her best friends from high school.

Like always, I did her a personal green photo frame (her favourite colour) with random photos we had throughout the year. Pictures were hard to get hold on, which is a sign that we MUST take more photos together! :)
Oh! Her lizard was there in the photo frame as well :p

It was an in-room private party in the early night and later at night, we went to the bar for a drink. It was an awesome in-room party because they had...
sushi!
Brilliant, unagi, salmon, prawn, more salmon and unagi..

*glup*

Birthday Girl have not arrived yet, so those saliva-dripping sushi could not be touched just yet. While waiting, we had so many things to do, for instance...
 Hui Yii and Ben

That and..
Sze Lynn and I.

Later Joanne had her share of standing in the cupboard as well. lol. That's our activity while waiting besides, just chilling about the hotel room, watching videos of Melissa that her friends had compiled, and me camera-ing away.

We did all that while eying the food and gift table....
*i am carving for sushi while writing this post >.<*

At around 7.30pm or so, the prince and princess finally arrived. She was on her way up to the room when all us ran for cover.
Yup! That's where we hid. Behind the curtains where we can all see 31 floors below. haha.. It wasn't easy for them to hide behind the sheets, for Kin Lim especially since his hands and legs can always be seen. It's like we can see someone was behind those curtains if he wasn't told to "flatten" himself. hahahaha..

Sze Lynn, Hui Yii and I hid behind the sofas and when the birthday girl came in with the room lights off and only candle lighted the room, all we could hear was "ohhh..." *and more chatting in Mandarin lol* Behind the sofa, we three were contemplating when should we jump up with the word "Surprise!" After much deliberation, we jumped. HAHAHAHA..
She was surprise, and thought it was only the three girls that were there since the people behind the curtains had not jumped out yet. Then Sze Lynn went, "surprise surprise surprise" only did they jump out.

The first question from Melissa was: What are you all doing here?

After all the opening and looking at present ritual, the moment we waited for started: Sushi! It was followed by a short game of mahjong for the guys while the rest just sat down and chat. Waiting for time to pass till we can go up to the bar.

The clock strikes 9pm, and we all headed up to Luna Bar.

It's a very cool 5 star bar with a pool in the middle, open rooftop and overlooking KLCC, KL Tower and KL town itself.

We had wine, and few other alcoholic drink which I can remember its name except that it tasted like medicine after having to be mixed with Sprite. lol. Drank a cup of each and I had to stop to cool down since I was driving back. So, when they played the colour and eye game, I step out and took the chance to snap photos of them.
That's they eye eye game, look pretty funny to a third person's view when they were doing the eye thingy. LoL.

Made a visit to the washroom with Joanne halfway through, and found the washroom pretty amusing, even at the door itself.
The door's cool and weird. We stood there thinking which should we enter until we can make sense of the meaning at the door. lol. And they pipes in the toilet was so cool that we had to play around and take pictures with them.

And that's the end of Melissa's birthday post. Thanks for the invitation Mel! Hope you had great fun like we did :)
